The selection "Arabic" is placed directly under View/Encoding, not under "More". Selecting "Arabic" does not trigger a download box for Arabic Language Support. You need the "Arabic Language Support". I don't remember whether this comes with Windows 98 or is installed by Internet Explorer. Mozilla 1.5 on MS Windows 98 with "Arabic Language Support" displays Arabic and Persian OK. (For Urdu, you would need third-party extensions or Windows 2000.)

I can get pages in Chinese or Russian with no problem. In Arabic it also works, but it seems that as soon as some sort of problem, that I haven't been able to identify, is encountered by MSIE, then Arabic support is lost and pages that use to work just show raw characters and images are not loaded anymore.
